District Attorney

The Office of the District Attorney is a state office constitutionally established to enforce the criminal laws of the State of Colorado. Divisions include Felony, Juvenile, Traffic/Misdemeanor, Intake, Investigations, Central Services/Discovery and Victim/Witness. The mission of the District Attorney’s Office is:

  • To ensure confidence in the criminal justice system
  • To work toward a swift and just outcome
  • To advocate strongly for the rights of victims
  • To develop prosecutors with expertise in criminal law and public prosecution
  • To develop a staff committed to the mission, philosophy and goals of a public prosecutor
  • To support the implementation of quality community education and prevention programs.

Subpoena Verification System

Subpoenas issued to witnesses have a 12-digit number printed on their subpoena forms. Witnesses can call (970) 498-7280 during office hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday) to confirm their appearance for trial. Witnesses may also check your subpoena status online at any time before the trial.

April 2015 – Light of Hope Breakfast
Executive Director of CASA Lynn Oesterle-Zollner and CASA Board Member Deputy District Attorney Renee Doak hosted the Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children breakfast.

  • May 2, 2015 – 7th Annual Sean May Memorial Run/Walk
    The 8th Judicial DA’s Office honored Sean May, a Chief Deputy District Attorney with the 17th Judicial DA’s Office, who was murdered in 2008 at his home and proceeds will go to the Access to Justice Program.

  • April 29, 2015 — Denim Day
    Members of the DA’s Office donated to “Denim Day” and wore their denim to work in an effort to raise sexual assault awareness in support of the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault.

  • December 2014 – Santa Cops
    District Attorney Office staff and family members supported local law enforcement and families in need in our community by wrapping gifts for Santa Cops.

  • April 17, 2014 – Loveland Police Department Strong
    District Attorney’s Office supporting our local Loveland Law Enforcement Officer Garret Osilka and his family with a T-Shirt Fundraiser after being shot in the line of duty.

  • February 27, 2015 – Stair Step Challenge
    In support of Captain Rob Marone from the Colorado State Patrol and his battle with cancer, members of the District Attorney’s Office participated in the Stair Step Challenge Fundraiser.

  • March 2015 – Mock Trial
    Deputy District Attorney Renee Doak served as a Coach for the students at Rocky Mountain High School in a mock trial proceeding where her team won Regional Champs.

  • May 11, 2015 – PSA Media Contest Winners
    One of the winning middle school teams from Thompson School District won the PSA Media Contest sponsored by local Law Enforcement regarding Anti-Drugs – “You Use, You Lose.”

  • July 2014 – Ice Bucket Challenge
    The 19th Judicial District Attorney’s Office challenged our office to the Ice Bucket Challenge in which all donations were given to the Fallen Peace Officers Fund and our office in turn challenged the 20th Judicial District.

  • March 7, 2014 – Governor’s Office
    First Assistant District Attorney, Mitchell T. Murray (far left), represented the Eighth Judicial District for the signing of House Bill 14-1035 concerning restitution in criminal cases. Our office played an integral part in creating this bill.

  • August 1, 2013 – Wild West Relay
    The DA team participated in the 200-mile Wild West Relay from Fort Collins to Steamboat Springs to raise money for various charities.

  • May 31, 2013 – Colorado Law Enforcement Torch Run
    District Attorney Cliff Riedel and Senior Investigator Charlie Robles joined other law enforcement from Colorado to increase awareness and raise funds for the special Olympic movement.

  • February 9, 2013 – Boulder Polar Plunge
    DA staff and family participated in the Polar Plunge hosted by Special Olympics Colorado and the Boulder Police Department. The team raised over $800 for Special Olympics.

  • September 22, 2012 – Jailbreak 4-Mile Run/Walk
    DA staff and family members participated in the Jailbreak 4-Mile Run/Walk on Saturday, September 22, 2012. Sponsored by the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, the Jailbreak Run raised over $10,000 for the Child Advocacy Center.

  • March 17, 2012 – Partner’s Mentoring Youth Sponsored Sharin’O’Green 5K Race
    Thirty-eight District Attorney Office staff, family and friends participated in the 5K Race with the team name of Seamus McGuilty and the WHO DUNNITZ.

  • December 18, 2010 – Habitat
    Fourteen members of the District Attorney staff volunteered their labor in the construction of a home for a single mother and her two sons to be completed in early 2011.
